The February events’ calendar is packed to the max with a heap of fun activities to suit the whole family. With everything from beeswax wrapping workshops to our making the most of food waste tour, the Lantern Festival and of course the Summer Might Market with a few extra goodies – you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained.

Cooking with Food Waste Workshop
Thursday, February 7
Want to reduce your food waste? Come along to this informative and fun Market workshop where you’ll learn what to do with leftovers. Held in the Market’s demonstration kitchen and using leftover food from some of our Market traders, you’ll learn two simple recipes that you can try at home. You’ll also get to sample a few tastes – plus take the recipes home with you. Read more.

Making Food Waste Tasty Tour
Saturday, February 16

Visit the Market’s demo kitchen to learn quick and easy recipes you can replicate at home using leftover ingredients. The two-hour tour will include a talk from a Market organic produce stallholder on the benefits of biodynamic and organic produce. You’ll also enjoy a complimentary organic coffee – don’t forget to bring your reusable cup. Read more

Picklery & Preserve Workshop
Sunday, February 17
Join us at the Queen Vic Market picklery and stock kitchen to learn how to pickle and preserve produce waste that has been gathered from the Market stallholders. Learn about the real value of waste and how to reduce what you throw away daily. Includes a jar of pickles or preserve to take home. Read more

Beeswax Wrapping Workshop
Sunday, February 17
Kick the single-use habit for good when you learn how to hand-make quality beeswax wraps at one of our most popular February events. Beeswax wraps are a re-usable replacement for cling wrap and plastic bags to cover food and keep it fresh. These wraps can be used to wrap sandwiches, bowls of food and snacks. Leave with a large and medium wrap to take home. Read more.

Jersey Boys at the Summer Night Market
Wednesday, February 20

The internationally acclaimed hit musical JERSEY BOYS tells the story of how a group of blue collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest pop sensations of all time, selling 175 million records worldwide. Watch them perform a few of their biggest hits on the Queen Street Stage at 7.30pm. Read more.

Icebox Challenge
Friday, February 22 – Sunday, March 3
The Icebox Challenge is a live demonstration of how simple and effective building techniques can support zero emission and comfortable living. The German Passivhaus (Passive House) approach to building will be on show with two identical-looking boxes filled with a tonne of ice – one built to the local building code and one to the Passive House standard. See the results after 10 days in the sun. Read more.
