Melbourne Fringe Festival – Market Mural

Melbourne Fringe Festival – Market Mural

As part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Melbourne Polytechnic is creating a mural featuring 3 market personalities, Garry from Gazza’s Seafood, Fi from Epicurean and Bruce from Bruce Goose.

A long visual combination of key illustrated portraits pre-prepared on a roll of heavyweight paper, 180cm high. Once hung, visitors will be invited to have their outlines traced in spaces between the illustrations; an outline of their head and shoulders traced on to the mural creating an imprint of the diverse Melbourne community through drawing. The drawings and marks will become entangled, intertwined, but will record and archive a participatory event.

It is intended to encourage a feeling of involvement in visual art, participation which in turn invokes action, empathy, attitude, sentiment, communication.
