Munro Development
Located adjacent to the Market on the corner of Therry and Queen Streets, the Munro Development is a key feature of the renewal of the Queen Victoria Market Precinct. The development is a significant element in securing the Queen Victoria Market’s future as an authentic, vibrant, open-air market known for outstanding fresh produce, specialty shopping, hospitality and seasonal night markets.
The Munro Development has already delivered a new 500-space Undercover Car Park that opened in mid-2021 and will create an additional 1800+ square metres of retail and hospitality outlets adjoining the Queen Victoria Market. The new retail precinct will complement and enhance the current Market offering, with retail and hospitality that is aligned to the customer catchment and a new dining precinct.
The new businesses will join Brick Lane Market, Market Lane Coffee, ReWine and Only Mine now open in the Munro Development, as well as St. Ali & The Queen and Moonfishh coming soon. To read more about the first six high-calibre food and drink venues opening soon, click here.
This landmark development will also feature a community hub with a three-level library, a boutique hotel, affordable housing, build-to-rent residential apartments and 2500m² of new open space.
The Veriu Queen Victoria Market has opened its doors, offering 110 micro apartments inspired by the vibrancy of the Market. The hotel features a gym, pool, rooms equipment with cooking facilities, working space in the library, a pantry shop, guest laundry and meetings and events space for conferences, exhibitions, workshops and other functions.
The LIV Munro development is now open with 490 build-to-rent apartments available as well as a range of amenities including a dedicated health and wellness facility, two cinema rooms, a pool, outdoor terrace, a games room, private dining and co-working spaces.
The Munro Development will integrate Market history with modern laneways that will provide new entry points into Melbourne’s largest and busiest marketplace. Paying respect to the rich history of one of Australia’s most recognisable retail precincts, the Munro Development and the associated renewed market presence will ensure the continued success of Australia’s most iconic market.
