Meat & Fish Hall
The Meat & Fish Hall is wheelchair accessible from Elizabeth Street and Queen Street and the Dairy Produce Hall. The floor of the Meat & Fish Hall is flat and on a slight downward gradient leading to Elizabeth Street.

Dairy Produce Hall
The Dairy Produce Hall is wheelchair accessible from the Meat & Fish Hall, Deli Lane and Therry Street. The floor is flat and on a slight downward gradient towards Elizabeth Street.

H & I Sheds
H and I Sheds are temporarily closed whilst restoration works are underway.

Queen Street
Queen Street is closed to traffic on Sundays from 8.30am until 4pm. The southern end of Queen Street between the entrance to the open air car park and K Shed is closed to traffic at all times. It has seating and umbrellas and the surface is bitumen and is flat. Accessible bathrooms and a baby change room are located in this area.

Queen Street is accessible at the following points:

  • Pedestrian crossing on Queen Street near corner of Therry Street.
  • Pedestrian crossing on Victoria Street near corner of Queen Street.
  • If coming from the Open Air car park, entry is via String Bean Alley.

String Bean Alley
String Bean Alley is located at the southern end of the Market. It is accessible via Peel Street and at 2 walkways from the Open Air Car Park. The surface is bitumen and is on a slight downward gradient from Peel Street Queen Street.

Sheds A to L
Open air sheds A to L are wheelchair accessible from the footpaths on Queen Street, Peel Street, String Bean Alley and Victoria Street. The surface is bitumen and is on a slight downward gradient from Peel Street toward Queen Street.

Therry Street
The footpaths on either side of Therry Street are bluestone on a slight downward gradient from Queen Street toward Elizabeth Street. All shops, cafes and restaurants are wheelchair accessible. Therry Street is wheelchair accessible from the Undercover Car Park via elevator.

Suggested Routes
The Market sits on 7 hectares, the entire site of which is on a slight downward gradient from Peel Street to Elizabeth Street. Please keep this in mind when planning your route around the Market.

Wheelchair for Hire
The Market’s wheelchair is available to hire from the Market’s Information Hub, located at F Shed Shop 1 (on the corner of Queen Street). The Information Hub opens at 9am on Market days. We do not take bookings for the Market’s wheelchair, so we advise to try and arrive early to avoid disappointment.

A Shed Laneway between Victoria Street shops
The handrails in the female toilet are on the left side.
The handrails in the male toilet are on the right side.

Queen’s Food Hall
The handrails in the unisex toilet are on the left side.


Assistance Animals

Assistance animals are welcome in all areas of Queen Victoria Market. Assistance animals include guide dogs, guide dogs in training, hearing guide dogs, and other animals identified by an Assistance Animal Pass.


Public Transport

Tram:
The Market is located within the free tram zone.

Take trams 19, 57 or 59 to stop 7, Elizabeth Street. Tram route 19 is mostly serviced by a low floor tram and stop 7 is a level access stop.

Take tram 58 to stop 9, Peel Street. Tram route 58 is partly serviced by low level trams and stop 9 is a level access stop.

Train:
Take the city loop train to Flagstaff Station, which has lift access to the corner of William Street and La Trobe Street. Head north along William Street and cross at the corner of Franklin Street.

Take the city loop train to Melbourne Central Station, which has lift access to the corner of Elizabeth Street and La Trobe Street. Head north along Elizabeth Street.

Parking:
The Undercover Car Park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Accessible parking is available for people with disabilities on level B1. The maximum vehicle height for entry into this car park is 2.2 metres. This car park has elevator access to Therry Street and is wheelchair accessible.

The Open Air Car Park is open 5am-7pm, 7 days per week, and, for special events, is open 4.30pm-11pm. Accessible parking is available for people with disabilities directly to the left and right of the main entrance on Queen Street. There is no maximum height for entry into this car park.

Therry Street. Accessible Parking is available at all times at the top of Therry Street near the corner of Queen Street.

Sensory Sensitivities 

The Queen Victoria Market welcomes visitors with sensory sensitivities. The quietest times at the Market are generally Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, between 7am and 11am and outside of school holidays. Please note that the Meat & Fish Hall might be confronting for some visitors.
