Queen Victoria Market’s fresh produce goes online
Queen Victoria Market has announced a landmark partnership with online shopping and delivery service YourGrocer. This new partnership will allow Melburnians to order fresh produce from the Market online and have it conveniently delivered to their door.
The partnership with Melbourne start-up YourGrocer – an established online shopping and delivery service – will bring the Market’s quality fresh produce to even more customers.
As part of this new collaboration, YourGrocer now features a variety of greengrocers, butchers, fishmongers and delicatessens from the Queen Victoria Market, with a total of 25 traders to come online over the coming months to continue to expand and grow the variety of produce available. Customers will be able to order a great range of fresh food from meat, fish and poultry, to fruit and vegetables, plus bread, eggs and wine.
Customers can register now at yourgrocer.com.au/qvm and place an order with Queen Vic Market traders. YourGrocer will collect the order from the Market and deliver it directly to the customer’s kitchen bench or leave the produce in a cool bag in a safe place. Same day delivery is available for orders placed before 11am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Queen Victoria Market CEO, Stan Liacos said the strong response from traders wanting to participate in the online service reflects their desire to take the best of what they have to offer to all Melburnians.
“This is a great example of how the Queen Victoria Market is moving with the times and adapting to meet the changing needs of customers and traders.”
“The new online service will bring the Market’s amazing fresh produce to those who are time poor and may not be able to visit the Market regularly, or at all, to buy groceries, but who still want to enjoy what Victoria’s favourite market has to offer,” said Mr Liacos.
Co-Founder and CEO of YourGrocer, Morgan Ranieri said that as a Melbourne start-up, they are passionate about helping other local independent businesses thrive.
“This partnership will give our customers across Melbourne an opportunity to buy more of the fresh, quality ingredients Queen Vic Market is renowned for and provide Vic Market traders with access to a whole new customer base.”
This is just one of many initiatives that will make the Market experience more accessible for customers and visitors.
Last month, String Bean Alley – home to a collective of 26 independent artisans – was re-launched with an expanded offering. The Market has also introduced more seating and dedicated areas where visitors can rest and relax while enjoying the Market’s food and drink offering.
Mr Liacos said that Queen Victoria Market Management will continue to make improvements and innovations based on customer and trader feedback.
“At all times our focus is to protect the history and heritage that makes the Market unique, while also adapting and responding to the needs of our traders and customers.
“This will ensure we continue to excite and entice customers, so that the Market remains a thriving and diverse marketplace for future generations,” said Mr Liacos.
