City of Melbourne announces Gurrowa Place 

The City of Melbourne has announced Lendlease as the development partner for an exciting new project right next door to the Market to be called Gurrowa Place – meaning a place of exchange and interchange to the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung People.

Featuring build-to-rent apartments with 15% affordable housing, student accommodation, and office space across three buildings, Gurrowa Place will also include a new underground car park with 220 spaces for Market customers on weekdays and 300 spaces on weekends.

Gurrowa Place is set to enhance the traditional Market experience Melburnians and visitors know and love – bringing new residents and workers to the city’s north and significantly increasing customers to the Market.

The $1.7 billion development will complement a range of upcoming City of Melbourne-led projects to restore the Franklin Street stores, develop the Queen’s Corner Building and transform the Market’s open-air carpark to new open space, to be known as Market Square.
